Scholarship Winner Sofia Tavares Reports on Her Experiences at the Youth Dressage Festival

Dear Norwegian Fjord Horse Alliance, 

Thank you for supporting Bubba aka Valhalla’s Baldur, aka Mr. Boombastic and me in attending the Lendon Gray Youth Dressage Festival! Thanks to the scholarship from the Norwegian Fjord Horse Alliance, I was able to participate in the Youth Dressage Festival in Saugerties, NY.  It was the first time that I go to the festival.  I am sure it is not going to be the last!  It was the best! 

The YDF was super fun with a lot of great people in a really nice place.  It was really fun to ride Bubba in a lot of really neat classes.  The trail classes were really fun, even for Bubba who was sassy and got to sneak some hay from the trail course.  The people who worked at the fair were all super nice.  Both Bubba and Teddy loved the entire show.  Bubba even got to dress up as the chef from the game of Clue for our team costume class and got second place. 

Bubba was such a good boy and we had so much fun.  I was so honored to win the Seldom Seen Trophy, which was super nice since it is from Ms. Lendon, who spent all summer teaching me at the D4K SIT program.   Bubba and I also won other awards such as the Harry Houdini High Point Pony in Prix Caprilli Award, Division U11 W/T/C Champion, Reserve Overall High Point Award for the festival and High Point Fjord Award.

 I have learned that there is a whole world of Fjord supporters out there and am learning just how awesome they are.  It’s not just my Bubba who’s so cool.  There a thousands of wonderful Fjords out there making their mark on the world! Thank you so much for supporting Bubba and me with the scholarship!  I will be sure to pay it forward with others!
